Mission Statement: Founded in 2004 as a positive empowerment to all artists, The Women of the Myst is dedicated to being the foremost in exploration of fantasy art. Our goal aims to unite fantasy artists of all media through the usage of programs, critiques and technical support from one another. WOTM also helps members reach their optimum potential as artists. We encourage interaction with one another and provide a wealth of tools and services to facilitate this interaction.
Essential to Women of the Myst mission is the encouragement of an ever deeper understanding and enjoyment of fantasy art by the diverse audience that it serves.
To achieve its goals The Women of the Myst recognizes:
· Each month WOTM will feature the work of one or more artists, while previous artist's works will be archived. In addition to the featured art work, the show will include links to the artist's bio/mission statement and/or interview.
· Learn to analyze in supportive and respectful manner the visual art works of others
· Learn the skills to apply the arts to all areas of their academic, personal and professional lives
· Develop a growing appreciation of the artist, works of art and development of the arts in the community
· That fantasy art transcend national boundaries and involve all forms of visual expression, including painting and sculpture, drawings, prints and illustrated books, photography, architecture and design, and film and video, as well as new forms yet to be developed.
· Networking for each other is essential to affirm the importance of fantasy art as it grows in abundance with the ideals with which it was founded and to remain vital and engaged with today’s collectors.
· That this commitment to fantasy art enlivens and informs our evolving understanding of the traditions of art.
· WOTM promotes the economic interest of its members. It is committed to improving knowledge for all creators of fantasy art and raising standards for the entire industry. We as artists create awareness and with that we empower each other!
